Ryan specialises in commercial, corporate, and insolvency law, but accepts briefs to advise and appear in disputes of all kinds.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Ryan was a solicitor at Allens, Sydney, in the Dispute and Investigations Department. His work there included acting for the non-executive Chairman of DSHE Holdings Ltd in complex proceedings concerning the collapse of electronics retailer Dick Smith, schemes of arrangement, commercial disputes involving claims of misleading or deceptive conduct, contract disputes in the construction industry, advising examinees in public examinations and other commercial and insolvency disputes. From 2015 to 2016, Ryan was the Tipstaff to the Hon. Justice Black in the Supreme Court of NSW.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts, and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons I) from the University of Western Sydney in which he was awarded a University Medal for Outstanding Scholarship in the Bachelor of Laws.
